Product Description
Crafted from a combination of copper, brass, and steel, the sculpture exudes an organic charm through its intricately designed tree trunks and branches. The slender trunks, represented by copper forms, seamlessly transition into a network of branches that are artistically sculpted from brass welding rods. The unique texture of the base is achieved through a careful process that emulates the earthy terrain from which the trees seem to emerge.
Adorning the branches are nearly one hundred handcrafted leaves, individually torch-fired with vibrant autumnal colors that range from warm reds to golden yellows and orange hues. Each leaf is meticulously cut, ensuring no two are identical, and is fused with a brass stem before being elegantly welded into place. This thoughtful arrangement of leaves introduces a dynamic element to the sculpture, as the varied color palette contrasts beautifully against the rustic white-enamel-coated trunks with subtle black markings.
The steel frame provides a sturdy foundation, with each tree supported by a structural rod, adding to the illusion of depth as the trees are positioned to create the sense of a dense grove. The enameled leaves, shimmering with a gem-like quality reminiscent of fine jewelry, captivate with their reflections, lending a luminous and lifelike quality to the scene.
This sculpture was inspired by the traditional art form of enamel on glass and the desire to give that two-dimensional technique a striking three-dimensional presence. The innovative fusion of welding, metalwork, and enameling techniques transforms a familiar autumn landscape into an immersive experience, capturing both the fleeting splendor of fall and the enduring beauty of artistic craftsmanship.
